First I would like to state I have been a KeySmart supporter since the beginning. From minimalist, tracking, pro, max you name it. Even purchased for my mother, two girlfriends, and an ex-wife. Each time excited because there seemed to be improvements. But after years of use I’ve noticed a pattern, and other issues unresolved.
•The batteries die shortly after the warranty expires.
• they are still using a dated micro B / android cable
The micro B cable or also known as the old android cable presents a problem. Starting with the fact that the port still isn’t deep enough to get a good solid connection. This is never good for any electrical device. It also may be the leading cause of the battery or board no longer working properly after a short while. My first couple just stop lighting up all together. Then my last two ( one being the max) I really can’t tell what’s going on. The slightest vibration and the light just flickers between yellow, amber, green. And after leaving it charged for several days it only lasts a week at most. I use these to primarily keep track of security tokens. So they don’t really leave the home or safe, or deposit box often. But in the event they do I need to trust that keysmart is on guard and has my back. Spending $50 or so every couple years on something like this device you rely on, I’d rather see an option for swapping in a new battery. Updated USB-C port, and more innovative designs. Personally a waterproof metal housing would be cool. But alas, I’ve contacted to return my last purchase a week or so back with no response. I miss the good old days days with Andy!
